What is GrayDot Collective?

GrayDot Collective is a mental and visual salad bar of stuff to help you get it done, make it easier, release the pressure valve. We live on the internet but we also want to exist in the back of your head. Whether that’s tonight’s dinner or getting your Inbox to zero, GrayDot is here to help. It’s the thoughts, feelings, questions and comments that keep coming to our minds and then bringing to each other. It’s an expanded group text that’s for us and for anyone who needs it.

GrayDot is the in-between, and learning to get comfortable with the in-between. Most of us are Japanese Americans, and some of us are also German, Armenian and Native American. All of us are part of mixed-race families, simultaneously raising kids and caring for aging parents. It’s our sandwich years but we don’t want to exist in perpetual survival mode. We aim for meaningful mode.

Let’s morph our sandwich years back to the salad days in a better way. And better can and should be simple. We’re not raising the bar, we’re holding it up and making you laugh while fixing you a cheese plate, unless you’re not doing dairy, in which case, fruit? No, okay, please take this platter of celery and radishes.

We are the friend you didn’t know you needed, offering the support you didn’t ask for. Let’s normalize that, asking for help, because we are here. We are all here and we hope it’ll be okay.

GrayDot…

-is here to listen. Tell us about that podcast or your latest kitchen injury.
-believes a cocktail can help. Mocktails too. Coffee always.
-wants to make entertaining at home doable and enjoyable.
-thinks that children’s birthday parties do not need multiple balloon arches and wine spritzers better be served
-is the opposite of leaning in. We’re leaning out in a better direction.
-feels that a three-minute dry brush can lighten your mood.
-is trying to rationalize the 1980s you-can-have-it-all feminism with the reality that you can’t have it all at the same time. Thank you, Mrs. Obama.
-connecting with your community is good for your soul
