A Nap Dress and Persimmon Cocktail for a Quiet Friday Night

I love a good monochromatic look—I’m just not a big prints person, flowers especially. So, I’ve resisted the prairie dress that’s become popular in the last few years…until Emily sent me the Nap Dress from Hill House Home. It’s a riff on the prairie and maybe a nod to Laura Ashley, but it’s updated and also offered in solid colors. It’s festive, feminine and comfortable but still gets me out of my comfort zone. It makes sense for a Friday evening cocktail at home–yes, maybe a dress and a blow out for a cocktail at home is a little extra but that’s also very me.

For this cocktail I put fresh cut persimmons and lemon juice in a food processor and pureed. I strained and added maple syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom to taste. To the puree, add bourbon, spicy bitters, ice, and shake. To finish, I add a little water to thin out.
